Why is it important to consider the Total Physical Response approach when teaching children? How could you apply it?

  1. TPR is very important because as we know is teaching a second language, it is also important to note that through TPR know how to teach that language is English to children who speak only one language. TPR teaches us to assume that role as a parent or teacher in the classroom to have a better grasp of the class, you can use to practice and teach different things other than a language.

  2. I think is very important because through this method of teaching children can acquire knowledge through commands that says teacher or parents.
It begins when the teacher gives a command and all students perform the action.
This method can be applied to children and beginners of language.

  4. As everyone know kids are very restless nowadays, we as a teachers must use methods, theories or techniques to capture the attention of the children, one of these methods is total physical response, it is a good method to teach them because the child responds physically to verbal commands of the teacher or father. the child absorbs the language without being able to speak. It is during this period that the internalization and the decipherment of messages occurs. After this stage, the child is able to reproduce the language spontaneously. The teacher tries to mimic this process in class. we can apply this method through simple activities like "Simon says" or "storytelling", i mean, all the activities in which they can move their bodies or something like that.

  5. As we know, Asher created this approach based in how kids learn a language and he found it so efective, so it is so important to consider this approach in teaching children because it deals about commands and repetions and that's what kids do, they always tend to repeat or do what adults or teachers do. Besides that, I think it is one of the most effective way to teach children because teachers can apply a lot of games based on this approach, e.g. the famous game "Simon says" the teacher says anything to the child and the child does so. It is one of the thing teachers can apply this aproach. =)

  6. I think it would be a good technique through group dynamics, such as the king wants.. says the king wants a toy, the child runs, looks for the toy and gives it to your teacher.
Another technique is with a song to teach body parts. The teacher says: We have eyes, mouth and nose (pointing) and the children repeat this action.

  7. a technique would be the greeting and farewell through a song like the repetition of the numbers from 1 to 10, a game where children use the clothing colors and combined with color and say your favorite clothes.

  9. Yes! Simon Says is one of the typical games we can use for applying this approach. Songs with lyrics that involve body movements are really useful, too. I guess even adults like to learn using TPR. jejejejeje!! I do!!

  10. It is important the TPR approach because it stimulates and develops oral skills in students through commands given by the teacher. When a teacher tells the students a command each time they connect it according to their previous knowledge and they obey with a physical response. We as teachers could apply it in songs and games related to body movements, for example the game called "dwarf and giant"" or the song called "Old Mac Donald".
